Information:
The Los Angeles City Fire Department operates its radio system on 24 frequencies in the 800 MHz band. The LAFD radio system is conventional analog - not trunked - and (other than the Mutual Aid frequencies) uses repeaters for all communications. 3 frequencies are typically used for fire and EMS dispatching, the rest are used for tactical, operational, or fireground purposes. In the list below, Metro L.A. refers to the city of Los Angeles south of Mulholland Drive, Valley is the area north of Mulholland. Division 1 covers the Central, East and West areas of the city, Division 2 covers the South and Harbor areas, Division 3 covers the Valley. A note that proves things are not always as they appear to be: Police surveillance has been heard on the Mutual Aid frequencies from time to time! The LAFD web site can be found here. |
