F/A-18's at Long Beach Airport

United States Navy F/A-18’s will be flying into Long Beach Airport and will be conducting a fly-over for the Long Beach Grand Prix this weekend. This may be a good opportunity for Civilian and MilAir monitoring in the area.

The tentative schedule that has been provided to the Long Beach Airport is:

Thursday, April 18, 2024:

  • 2 aircraft arrive at approximately 4:30 PM.

Friday, April 19, 2024:

  • 1 aircraft arrives at approximately 12:00 PM.

Sunday, April 21, 2024:

  • All 3 aircraft depart at approximately 11:50 AM, conduct their flyover of the event at about 12:30 PM, and return to the airport at approximately 1:00 PM.

Monday, April 22, 2024:

  • All 3 aircraft depart at approximately 9:30 AM.

Also, don’t forget to monitor Long Beach Police, Fire, and Local Government frequencies. Race officials are renting a boatload of radios (mostly low-power HT’s on UHF frequencies) from Bearcom. Put your scanner search function to use!
