The Southern California Monitoring Association is moving away from a traditional membership-and-dues model and toward a simpler supporter model.

SCMA exists to serve the Southern California scanner and radio-monitoring community. Our goal is to provide useful information, preserve the history of the hobby, share monitoring resources, and keep scanner listeners, amateur radio operators, public safety communications professionals, aviation monitors, and other radio enthusiasts connected.

Why Your Support Matters

Your support helps keep SCMA active and available to the monitoring community. Contributions help pay for website hosting, Groups.io email list hosting, online meeting tools, frequency information, archives, newsletters, and other resources used by scanner listeners throughout Southern California.

SCMA has served the radio-monitoring community for many years, and continued support from listeners, hams, radio professionals, and friends of the hobby helps keep that work going.

Suggested Annual Support

The suggested annual support amount is $20.

This is not intended to be a complicated membership system. It is simply a way for people who value SCMA to help cover the real operating costs of maintaining the organization, website, email list, meetings, and resources.

Your support is appreciated whether you are a longtime SCMA member, a scanner listener, a ham radio operator, a public safety communications professional, or someone who simply wants to help preserve and strengthen the radio-monitoring hobby in Southern California.

Stay Connected

You do not have to be a supporter to stay informed. Anyone interested in scanner monitoring, amateur radio, public safety communications, aviation monitoring, military air, rail, marine, utilities, or other radio communications is welcome to subscribe to the SCMA email list on Groups.io.

Anyone interested in radio communication monitoring is encouraged to join the SCMA. We are well-known to professional and public safety organizations, and the government, police, fire, and news organizations employ some of our members.

Membership is $20 per year. Dues support the club’s activities, including website hosting, Groups.io hosting, and Zoom meeting costs.

  • Pay Your Membership Dues Online – You can pay your membership dues via PayPal, credit card, debit card, or Venmo. (No PayPal account is required.) The Dues are for the current calendar year.
  • Online Membership Application Form—Fill out and submit your application online. Use this form to apply for new membership or to update your information with the club.
